PRETTY RECKLESS Becomes First Female-Fronted Band To Reach No. 1 With First Two Hits
September 5, 2014According to The Pulse Of Radio, THE PRETTY RECKLESS has become the only female-fronted band to hit No. 1 on the rock radio chart with its first two hit singles. "Heaven Knows" reached the top spot in March, while the band's latest single, "Messed Up World", just climbed to No. 1 in the past week.
THE PRETTY RECKLESS is also just the second female-fronted group to hit No. 1 following HALESTORM. The only other female voice to top the rock chart was that of Alannah Myles with "Black Velvet" back in 1990.
Singer Taylor Momsen told The Pulse Of Radio where the band was when she learned that "Heaven Knows" had become their first chart-topper. "We were in Europe and I went, 'Oh, it's great, we have a No. 1 in America and we're in Europe," she said. "No offense to Europe, Europe's awesome, but we're always in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Even though the band is the first of its kind to reach No. 1 with its first two singles, THE PRETENDERS did have two chart-toppers in a row with "Don't Get Me Wrong" and "My Baby" in late 1986/early 1987.
Both songs by THE PRETTY RECKLESS are taken from their sophomore album, "Going To Hell", which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard album chart when it was released in March.
THE PRETTY RECKLESS begin a lengthy North American headlining trek on Friday (September 5) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
